Undergraduate Abstract Algebra
This is a 2 semester undergraduate course which covers basic material on groups, rings, and fields.
In the first semester is covered the theory of groups, including Sylow's theorem, simple groups, solvable groups, and Abelian groups. It also introduces rings including polynomial rings, resultants, an discriminants.Â
The second semester continues with the theory of fields. It covers some of the classical topics which are necessary for training of teachers of mathematics such as geometric constructions, solving of polynomial equations, trisecting an angle or squaring the cube, etc. It introduces Galois theory.
